Built a lead-scraping automation in n8n.
For this one, I focused on local restaurants in New York and automated the process of collecting their business information from Google Maps.
The workflow pulls things like:
- Restaurant name
- Website
- Business category
Instead of manually searching Google Maps, opening businesses one by one, and copying their details into a spreadsheet, the workflow handles the repetitive part automatically and saves the leads directly into Google Sheets.
This is just one use case. The same setup can be adapted for different locations, industries, and lead-generation needs.

Automated Lead Generation via Google Maps (n8n + Google Maps API). Searches Google Maps by category and location, pulls business details, and drops a clean, ready-to-contact list into a sheet — on a schedule, with zero manual clicking.
Finding leads used to mean sitting there clicking through map pins one by one, copying names and numbers by hand. This automation does that work on its own. Give it a category and an area — say, "HVAC repair, Leicester" — and it searches Google Maps, extracts each business's name, phone number, category, and rating, then automatically filters out duplicates so the same business never shows up twice.
The output lands straight in a spreadsheet: a clean, ready-to-contact list, with retry and backoff handling built in so it keeps working reliably even if an API call fails midway. Runs on a schedule, so a fresh batch of leads is sitting there waiting with no one touching it.
