I started building a website. Somehow, I ended up building an entire business system. š
When I started developing Daunais Vintage in Base44, I needed an online home for my vintage business.
Simple enough, right?
Then came product catalogs, inventory management, duplicate listings, collection organization, payment integrations, content publishing, and approximately 900 opportunities to ask, "Why is this not working?" š
What started as website development became an ongoing lesson in solving real business problems.
I've learned that building something attractive is only half the job. The real challenge is making it functional, manageable, and useful for the person running the business.
Today, I'm using that experience to expand Built by Shawnee, focusing on custom Base44 websites, small-business solutions, and website troubleshooting.
Daunais Vintage is still evolving, but that's part of what makes it such a valuable project.
When a section relies on animation, I now prototype it in Figma motion instead of writing it out. A simple prototype gives the client and the developer the same clear reference: less back and forth, more precise feedback and a smoother build. Hereās the hero animation for a recent landing page, shown as a working prototype.
