Inspired by Clara Peeters’ A Bouquet of Flowers (c. 1612), I imagined its flowers evolving across four centuries into an entirely female human-floral lineage.
Using FLORA, I explored the painting’s palette and botanical forms, developed multiple generations through character studies and references, and iterated on the final composition until the women themselves became the bouquet.
The project is inspired by Peeters’ legacy as one of the few professional women painters of her time, turning the original still life into a living female lineage.
As a final extension, I also developed an AR experience where you can become another descendant of the bouquet.
Flora del Nuevo Reino Digital — A Botanical Atlas of Contemporary Technology
This project reimagines everyday technology through the visual language of nineteenth-century botanical illustration.
Inspired by Florence H. Woolward's The Genus Masdevallia (1896), I created a custom Recraft V4 style using four historical orchid illustrations from the public domain.
The collection features six fictional botanical specimens combining natural structures with headphones, charging devices, wireless networks, solar panels, smartphones, and robotic pollination.
The title Nuevo Reino references the historical New Kingdom of Granada, connecting the project to Colombia's botanical heritage.
Historical references — Florence H. Woolward (1896):
Masdevallia caudata
Masdevallia coccinea
Masdevallia coriacea
Masdevallia chimaera
