If your Stripe or Paystack checkout marks orders paid inside the redirect callback, you have a bug. Users close tabs, networks drop, and redirects never fire. Webhooks are the source of truth. Verify the signature, check the amount and currency against your own record, then fulfill.

On 2Settle I process crypto payments the same way: a payment is only settled after N on-chain confirmations, never when the UI says so. That one rule has kept $583K in processed volume clean of a single false settlement.
