What Was Never Mine is a 90-second AI-animated visual story exploring ambition, social media visibility, success, and the moment a dream begins to feel like something you no longer recognize.
I developed the concept, visual world, recurring character, scene progression, and final edit using approximately 30 generated visuals. The production required maintaining consistency across the character, bedroom environment, lighting, wardrobe, emotional tone, and cinematic pacing.
The film moves from quiet aspiration into rapid online attention and public success, before turning inward as the character questions what she has gained—and what she may have lost along the way.
As a Black woman working in AI storytelling, I am especially intentional about creating expressive Black female characters and placing them at the center of imaginative, cinematic narratives.
