Hi Creatives around the world🚀
For the Config Makeathon, Introducing you "Short Break". It is a single/ multiplayer, 90s style arcade game with a touch of nostalgia and addictive fun!
To make this come alive, I followed these 4 steps:
1. Ideation & Defining Purpose In every project I look within to find purpose and ideas. I have always played video games like Dangerous Dave, Snake, Circus, Contra, Pac-man, and more, and I loved each and every game.
I wanted to bring a part of my childhood alive, share the joy that I felt back then to everyone who loves and craves 90s arcade games and the fun of playing them 🙌
I wanted to build a 2D interactive game with multiple maps (Arenas) and Single/ multiplayer functionality to Forster a playful competitive spirit among the players.
2. Planning After I wrote down the initial idea, I started sketching mazes, decided upon their names of the Game & Arenas, figured out the user flow, and defined the game rules, and mechanics of the game play.
When I felt then idea is refined enough and all things were mapped out, I moved to the next step.
3. Execution For this step, I defined the prompt in as much detail as I could in the first go with all the colors, layouts, look & feel of the game, described the sound design that would go with this and started building the prototype.
Figma Make is so good to use, everything was so smooth and intuitive. Made this project a breeze!
From this stage on, I refined the game more, added more functionality, single player mode, background music, style of the monster, and more. Finally, I perfected the game and moved to the final step!
4. Launch I am happy to publish and share the game with such a wonderful and warm community of creatives!
I absolutely loved the challenge as it pushed me to think of the tiniest details and relive the joy of my childhood again. Despite work projects, I was able to finish this personal project. Thank you to the Figma and Contra team for a challenge that made me build a part of our childhood memory🎉
If you liked playing my game, then a like or comment goes a long way. Thank you. Keep Creating 🙌

"Short Break" is such a solid concept for a makeathon entry. The 90s arcade aesthetic with that pixel font and the pig coin mechanic reads instantly. Did you build the multiplayer mode with Figma Make or handle that separately?

I handled everything from the sound to the design and game mechanics including multiplayer mode in figma make only. It is a powerful tool
