Envato "Human by Design" Challenge Submission
I have attached two videos below: my final short (did you know style) documentary on the history of the barcode, and a complete workflow walkthrough.
The Concept
The barcode was invented on Miami Beach in 1949 and is now scanned 10 billion times a day. To build this story, I used Envato as my primary creative engine, blending AI generation with traditional stock assets. Claude, Higgsfield, and Premiere Pro completed the production stack.
Human by Design
The goal of this project was to prove that AI is just the crew while the human is the director. Here is a quick look at how I took control of the algorithm:
Scrapping the Generic: The AI generated a generic elderly man for the inventor. I scrapped the output entirely and built a custom historical silhouette.
Manual Override: I ran an AI video prompt for fingers dragging through sand. I threw out the motion, pulled a single static frame, and manually animated a laser over it to lock in the exact aesthetic.
Curating, not settling: For every asset, I generated multiple variants and rejected the ones that missed, rather than taking the first output the AI gave me.
I break down exactly how I forced AI visual corrections and when I completely abandoned AI for Envato stock textures in the attached walkthrough video.
Envato provided the raw material. The human made the final executive decisions.
