I once sat through a healthcare app's onboarding – question after question, some way too personal – only to get to the end and find out there wasn't even a free tier. Great, so I gave up all that info for nothing. I didn't want Vela to do that to anyone. Vela is my passion-project, coming from something I've experienced myself more than once. Moving to a new country and figuring out an unfamiliar healthcare system is stressful enough on its own. So I wanted to create an app that not only lets you book a doctor's appointment in a stress-free way, but also helps you navigate the system without feeling lost. That meant rethinking what I ask, and when. Vela only asks 3 questions upfront – just enough to show relevant doctors. No account, no commitment, nothing personal. And even those 3 don't assume too much: an "I'm not sure" option on the insurance question, because plenty of people genuinely don't know their own plan yet, and a "why do we ask this" link, for anyone who wants context before answering. Everything else stays optional, until the user is actually ready to commit. Because trust isn't an entry fee. It's something people give when they're ready.
