Some WordPress hosts can display WebP images but can’t create them.
I added a way around that: let the browser do the conversion.
Safe WebP Queue can now process images on your computer and save the finished WebP copies back to WordPress. Your originals stay intact. No conversion service, subscription or credits.
The encoder is jSquash/libwebp running through WebAssembly. I built the WordPress integration around it: progress, file checks, queue coordination and handling images or settings that change during conversion.
Keep the admin tab open while it works.
Version 1.0.1 is out. Free and open source.

Theory was designed for a creative studio that needed something bold and editorial without losing clarity or usability.
The part I loved most was figuring out how to make the site feel visually expressive while still giving the portfolio work room to breathe. Lots of strong type, intentional movement, and little custom details throughout.
