Five things I look at first when someone sends me their website.
One. The headline. Does it immediately tell me what you do and who you help. Not a clever tagline. A clear, specific statement.
Two. The call to action. Is there one obvious next step or are there five competing buttons all asking for attention at the same time.
Three. The mobile experience. Pull up your own site on your phone right now. Is it easy to read, easy to navigate, easy to act on. If not, you are losing people before they ever read your copy.
Four. Social proof. Testimonials, client names, case studies, results. Something that tells a stranger they can trust you before they have spoken to you.
Five. The about section. Does it open with something your ideal client would recognise about their own situation, or does it open with your job title and qualifications.
Most websites I see are missing at least two of these. Usually three.

The most common reason people never finish their website.

Something I hear almost every week from business owners.
"Sorry about my website, it's a bit outdated."
That disclaimer before someone even clicks the link. That apology before anyone has seen anything. That cringe when you share your URL in a proposal or an email signature.
