As part of Base44's #GiveItAGlow challenge x Contra, I reached out to Skellefteå Discgolf and asked if I could use their website for this design case. They immediately said yes, and here's the result of an intense two-day build.
Their current website requires quite a bit of scrolling below the fold before visitors get to the key information, more than I felt was necessary. Those who know me know that I deeeespiiiiise scrolling when nothing exciting is happening on screen, which made this a PERFECT candidate for a full viewport design approach! My idea isn't for users to spend hours on the website, but rather at the facility playing disc golf which is why I wanted it to be a quick and easy experience to find information + current weather temperature at their location. I also included a language switcher with English translations, since Skellefteå is a popular destination for tourism. 😊
I wanted to give the brand a little sportier impression and the black and white color palette felt like a natural fit. Since I'm a sucker for color, I couldn't resist adding just a tiny bit of green though. The traditional logotype has been replaced with an animated illustration resembling a spinning disc because.. why not?
They also have an INCREDIBLE shop with discs and gear, but none of it is promoted on their website so I completely reworked that part as well by introducing a 360-degree product view for their products. Visitors can reserve products online and collect at the shop.
Everything can be managed through an admin panel and I also implemented a useful automation. Since disc golf is dependent on good weather, whenever an event is scheduled, an in-app agent automatically checks the forecast the same morning. If the prognosis looks bad, a warning e-mail is sent out automatically!
