Lately I've been focused on widening my perspective as a designer, so I started digging into books by designers I admire or who have points of view I find interesting. I'd like to start a small series on my Instagram where I share my favorite findings. I'm calling it read/design, a little nod to the word "redesign".
I'm designing a logo to go with it, but I'm not sure which direction to take:
Direction A: More focused on movement, emphasizing the different perspectives I take in as I read. It also nods to the highlights I leave along the way, through the colored slash.
Direction B: This one leans more aesthetic, a mix of blackletter and pixel, connecting literature and the digital world, which so often intersect in these kinds of books.
Which of the two feels more interesting?

A is my pick, that highlighter pink slash makes the wordmark feel active and readable at a glance, whereas B leans more decorative. What's the first book you're planning to feature in the series?

Thank you so much! I completely agree. I was having trouble letting go of the second option for aesthetic reasons, but the first one wins on readability. The first book will be Thinking with Type by Ellen Lupton, such a great book for learning the fundamentals of typography. I first read it in college and it helped me a lot.
