On a phone call, silence is the bug.
A text chatbot can take three seconds to reply and nobody minds. A voice agent can't. Leave a caller in silence for a beat too long and they say "hello?", start talking over it, or hang up.
That one fact shaped everything we built on Talk-Lee, an AI voice agent that answers business calls for healthcare, real estate and finance teams. Scheduling, support, lead qualification, around the clock.
The goal was a reply in under 500ms. You don't get there with a faster model. You get there by making sure nothing waits for anything else.
→ Speech to text streams while the caller is still talking
→ An LLM and intent layer keeps track of what they actually want
→ Text to speech streams back, so the agent starts talking before the whole answer is ready
→ An orchestrator decides in real time whether to answer, book or hand off to a person
Then it has to do something useful. It books into Calendly, logs the lead in HubSpot, and passes the hard calls to a human with the context already attached.
Where it landed. Under 500ms responses, 1,000+ concurrent calls, 30+ languages, GDPR and TCPA compliant.
Third project in a row with the same lesson. The model is the easy part. The plumbing around it decides whether anyone keeps using it.
Pod Pro Studio: from recording inquiry to confirmed booking
Business: Pod Pro Studio, a small podcast and video studio in Riga, Latvia
Problem solved: Turning questions about recording setups and times into confirmed bookings, with a 3D preview that shows customers their setup first.
Elza runs a small podcast and video studio and handles the equipment herself. A question like “Can three of us record next Tuesday?” used to start a chain of messages about format, guest count, duration, price, and availability. Thursdays and Saturdays fill first, and a late cancellation can leave a prepared room empty.
Now customers choose their format, number of people, and session length. The 3D room changes to preview their setup, and they see the price before picking a time. The calendar accounts for opening hours, session length, and the 30 minutes Elza needs to reset the room. It also flags days that are filling fast. Customers can confirm an open slot without Elza’s approval or request a date beyond the 45-day booking window.
Each booking has a private page where customers can add the session to their calendar, reschedule, or cancel. After recording, they can book again with the same setup prefilled. Elza sees booking briefs, date requests, and room blocks in one owner view. The demo also previews a day-before email designed to prompt confirmation or rescheduling, but does not send emails.
Result: Routine bookings no longer require Elza to answer a chain of messages, leaving her more time to prepare and run sessions.
