Three years ago, I got laid off. I was still fairly new to Spain and hadn’t contributed enough to receive unemployment benefits. I actually went into that meeting thinking I was getting a promotion. A colleague had just left, and I thought I might take over some of his responsibilities (turned out he was let go too) Instead, I walked out without a job, alone in a new country without any financial support. Maybe just the push I needed, since I always said I wanted to do something for myself. I’m learning every day and enjoying (almost) every second of it!
