Most SaaS dashboards underperform not because of the stack, but because data fetching is treated as an afterthought.
Last week, I refactored a Next.js frontend backed by Node.js and PostgreSQL. No architectural overhauls, no exotic tooling just a deliberate rethink of how data was being requested. The result, API response times cut by more than half. The only real change was paying close attention to the network tab.
That experience reinforced something I’ve long believed: with modern frameworks (React, Svelte, Next.js, Node), the technology is rarely the bottleneck. The real constraint and opportunity is how thoughtfully we use it.
I’d like to hear from this community:
What’s the one performance win you’re most proud of?
Conversely, what’s the performance challenge that taught you the most?
I’m currently open to collaborating on projects of any scale. If you’re building something interesting and value performance-minded engineering, let’s connect and explore how we can build it better together.
