What I Built and Why
I created The Lost Encyclopedia of Future Technology: Eight Inventions From a Future That Never Existed, a collection of eight imaginative inventions presented through the visual style of Victorian scientific engravings. The collection reimagines technologies such as smartphones, autonomous delivery machines, flying taxis, humanoid robots, and video communication as inventions imagined by nineteenth-century inventors.
I chose this concept because I wanted to explore the fascinating connection between historical illustration and futuristic technology. Victorian scientific engravings were once used to explain groundbreaking inventions, so I used that visual language to imagine how people from the past might have illustrated the technologies we use today. By combining intricate mechanical details, antique parchment textures, and speculative engineering, I aimed to make each image feel like a rediscovered page from an encyclopedia that never existed.
My goal was to create more than a collection of individual images. I wanted to build a cohesive visual world that blends history, imagination, and innovation, inviting viewers to reconsider how the future might have looked through the eyes of the past.
