I deleted the feature I spent the longest building.
Layerdock started as a browser extension. Clients installed it, opened their site and pinned feedback right on the page. Technically, it was the part I was proudest of.
It was also where people dropped off.
Every review started with "first, install this extension." Clients don't want to install things. Agencies don't want to explain how. The best part of the product sat behind the worst first step.
So I removed it.
Now the site loads through a proxy I built on Cloudflare Workers, and the pin tool is injected automatically. The client gets a link, opens it and clicks on whatever's wrong. Nothing to install, no account to create.
Deleting something I'd worked that hard on wasn't easy. But users don't see effort. They see friction.
Building it taught me a lot. Deleting it was the right call for the product.
What's a feature you were proud of that your users didn't need?
