In addition to design, I like to write. Earlier this week, in response to events transpiring on a particular platform, I wrote about how the pink basketball site has become yet another walled garden. 2,000+ words. Many of them spelled correctly 😃 I talk about how platforms like Contra are capitalizing on the ineptitude of communities that are more interested in walling off their members from outside platforms. Designed the cover to represent the theme of the article with colors invoking the platform that's covered. Contra is one of the platforms that seems like it's about empowering users. Really happy to be part of this platform. Hopefully, Community can be a great extension of that. Would love to hear people's thoughts. https://maxburnside.com/blog/own_your_work

Own Your Work: Climbing out of the Walled Garden

I stumbled upon Dribbble (I’m pretty sure I mean literally, via StumbleUpon - a popular site/browser extension at the time, which guided users through the internet’s maze of links to uncover hidden gems that might otherwise remain relegated to a small following) while in college, and spent hours browsing the site. It was chockfull of beautiful, thoughtful, clever, and inspiring designs.

@Madi 💫 So true. It was something I hadn't thought about until I was typing out the first sentence of the blog and then it came flooding back. Seems like just yesterday.
