Happy new month. Sharetribe picked October 1st to make a change worth knowing about if you're running or planning a marketplace on the platform.
The old pricing had four tiers, and only the most expensive one, Extend, gave you custom code and full API access once your marketplace was live. That's gone now. Sharetribe runs two plans: Build at $39 a month for building and testing, and Live at $259 a month billed monthly (or $199 a month billed yearly) for a real marketplace with real users and payments. Full code access and API access come standard on Live, no premium tier required, and Build already includes code access in test mode so custom features can be built and proven out before going live at all. Per transaction fees are also gone, replaced by usage based pricing with 1 million credits included monthly.
What this changes in practice:
Founders who were told custom development meant upgrading to the top tier no longer need to. That cost barrier is gone.
A marketplace idea that needs something Sharetribe doesn't do out of the box, a specific booking flow, a custom matching system, a particular payment structure, can now be prototyped in test mode before any live plan is paid for at all.
Projects that were scoped or quoted around the old Extend requirement are worth re-pricing. The platform cost of getting custom work done just dropped for a lot of founders.
I build on Sharetribe using exactly this mix, no-code where it covers what's needed, custom code where it earns its cost, and this update makes that second part more accessible to more founders than it was last month.

Fact: launch is the first day the site meets real visitors. It needs care after that: updates, fixes, content and tracking.
What a monthly check covers on the sites I look after:
• Updates on staging first: core, theme, plugins or apps
• Every form tested end to end. Does the email actually arrive?
• Search Console: new errors, new 404s, pages dropped from the index
• Speed on the top pages, on mobile, not just desktop
Most problems I find in audits weren't there at launch. A plugin update broke a form, a page was renamed without a redirect, a new script slowed the homepage.
None of them are dramatic. They just pile up when nobody looks.

I redesigned 8x.life as a concept project
8x's homepage today is a list of links. Their best ideas (the manifesto, how the company works, how hiring works) are scattered across three different sites. So I rebuilt it as one story, aimed at the people they want to hire:
→ The manifesto leads: "humans in the loop."
→ "How 8x works" is shown as a loop, because every new vertical builds on the last one.
→ Real lines from their job ads, instead of culture-deck adjectives.
→ A fit self-check that can honestly tell you "this probably isn't for you."
→ All 18 open roles on the homepage, filterable.
Every fact comes from 8x's own sites. Nothing is made up.
