Prachin vs Adhunik — Indian Traditions
This series takes ancient Indian life and shows it as it is today, painted in the style of real Indian archive art - Mughal and Rajput miniatures and Bihar's Madhubani, sourced from public domain museum collections.
It keeps the old way of drawing - aged paper, gold borders, Lotus and Peacock motifs - but uses it to draw modern life that the old artist never saw.
It is a simple Before vs Now story of India - how our traditions have changed but our roots remain the same.
I made this because I see this Before vs Now everyday in India. My grandparents still talk about Kabootars, Haats, and Gurukul, but I live on video calls, Swiggy, and online classes. I wanted to show that gap in one frame.
And for this challenge, I didn't want to use foreign prints. Because We Indians have such a rich culture and art - Mughal, Rajput, Madhubani from Bihar where I'm from- so I thought, why not let the old artists draw our new life.
