What happens when you upload an image into AI and ask it to turn it into a video? The system does not “animate” the picture or understand the scene. It converts the image into a latent representation and, trained on large video datasets, predicts how images change over time. The output is a sequence of frames that are probable continuations of the original image, generated using a diffusion process (from noise to image). The model is not reconstructing reality.
