MARÉ 38 is a fictional surf-coaching business in Praia de Carcavelos, Portugal, built around one idea: a surfer usually knows when they’re free, but not necessarily when they should surf.
Instead of starting with a calendar, MARÉ 38 first understands the surfer’s level, session type, equipment needs and availability, then checks coach availability and surf conditions to recommend the best valid session.
From there, the customer can secure the booking with a €20 deposit. After booking, routine operations such as confirmations, reminders, equipment allocation and eligible rescheduling are handled automatically.
If conditions later stop being a good match for the surfer’s level, MARÉ 38 can offer better alternatives and let the customer move the session themselves, while keeping the deposit paid and updating the booking behind the scenes.
The goal was simple: give the surfer the right session while giving the coach their time back.

Built a voice-first tour booking site for abandoned places in Bulgaria. You talk to it, it plans and books your route. Made with Lovable for the challenge.
Next up: an AI that recognizes bears (and soon other wildlife) from trail cams, plus a WebXR museum of Bulgarian traditions.
This is so cool Ilian! Voice-first booking for abandoned places in Bulgaria - such a unique niche! You talk, it plans and books - love how frictionless that is. For next, I'd vote for the bear recognition AI from trail cams - that's super unique and has real conservation value!...
A booking platform is more than a calendar.
I worked on Duna, a Pilates scheduling platform with an integrated payment gateway.
What interests me about projects like this is the connection between the software and the actual business workflow: how people book, how payments fit into that process, and how the experience works for both customers and the team.
It’s the kind of development I enjoy—turning an operational need into a usable web product.
I’m open to projects involving booking systems, API integrations, and custom business applications.
The tricky part is keeping a class spot reserved while payment is still pending, then releasing it cleanly if checkout expires. Did you use a temporary booking hold for that?
