A short experimental film about the strange world of dreams — places we've never been, faces we've never seen, and memories that somehow feel real.
The film explores the idea that dreams don't follow the logic of stories. They move through fragments, emotions, places, and images, creating something we understand only while we're inside them. The narration takes the form of a quiet documentary, gradually moving from the familiar to the unsettling.
For the visuals, I drew inspiration from artworks in The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Open Access collection, using them as fragments of this dreamlike world. I then used FLORA to bring the still artworks to life with subtle motion while preserving their original character and composition.
The result is a film that sits somewhere between a documentary, a memory, and a dream.

Soo unique idea
With Heritage Month here, I keep coming back to this concept.
I grew up between South Africa and Zambia, and for a long time heritage felt like something I was standing somewhere between. This project started with the ordinary objects that somehow become part of our memory of home: the plastic chair, washing line, potjie, enamel mug, blue basin, radio in the background, taxi routes that become second nature.
The idea was simple: South Africa isn’t one story. It’s millions of them, built side by side.
A speculative Heritage Day campaign concept exploring memory, belonging and the everyday things that make culture feel familiar.
