Upwork, hantavirus, online stocks plummeting. Are we heading back to the remote era? And honestly, are businesses ready this time? Reading the news about hantavirus takes me straight back to early COVID days. Same headlines. Same panic. Same founders pretending everything is fine. So here's the real question. Are we sliding back into remote again? I remember Upwork back then. Stock was soaring because every business rushed online overnight. My own journey started exactly in that era. While half the market panicked, the other half was building. But this is 2026, not 2022. And I keep asking myself one thing. What lessons did businesses actually take from 2020? Honestly? I don't see many. Four years passed and most companies operate like COVID was a bad dream that magically can't repeat. Same fragile cash flow. Same "we'll figure it out" mindset. Same offices full of people who could work from anywhere but aren't allowed to. Did anyone actually rebuild? Or did everyone just wait for things to "go back to normal" and call it a strategy? Because if hantavirus, or war, or an AI crash, or whatever comes next hits tomorrow — most businesses I see around me are not ready. Not even close. So tell me honestly in the comments. No corporate fluff: Are we heading back to remote, or am I paranoid? What did YOUR business actually change after 2020? Or did you change nothing and hope for the best? Drop the unpopular take. I'll go first. 👇
