“Big Guns” was the first mobile game I ever created. Not a school project. Not a tutorial copy. An actual game I built from scratch with a dream bigger than my circumstances.
As a Black African developer, I grew up playing games made everywhere except where I come from. So one day I decided to stop waiting and build something myself.
That became Big Guns — a chaotic 2D shooter packed with action, story mode, multiplayer combat, futuristic weapons, superhuman bosses, and a world inspired by sci-fi and rebellion.
I made this game while learning, failing, rebuilding, and figuring things out with limited resources. Seeing people actually download and play something that once existed only in my imagination still feels unreal.
The craziest part? This is only the beginning.
One day I want African game developers to be part of global gaming conversations the same way Japan, America, and Europe are. I want kids from Zambia, Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, and everywhere else to grow up seeing games made by people who look like them.
If you want to support an independent African developer, check out Big Guns here:
Every download means more than people think. 🚀🎮
