Every redesign I have seen fail started the same way.
Someone got tired of the old site. A competitor launched something sharper. The brief became "make it modern," and by the end of the week everyone was arguing about fonts.
Nobody asked where the site was losing people.
So the new one loses them in the same place, just with better spacing.
An audit is not a design opinion document. It is four hours of finding the exact spots where a visitor gets confused, suspicious, or bored enough to close the tab. Then you build around what you found.
Nobody would rebuild a shop without knowing which aisle people walk out of. Websites hide the walkouts better, that is the only difference.
Save this before your next redesign meeting.
If one is coming up, send me the link. I will do the audit part for free.
