Hey Contra 👋 first post here, so let me introduce myself with a number that still surprises me.
It took me 8 years on Upwork to cross $50k.
But here's the fun part: the first $10k took 7 years. The next $40k took 12 months.
Something clicked in that last stretch better positioning, better clients, actually owning my niche instead of chasing every job. The slow years weren't wasted; they were the reps that made the fast year possible.
So now I'm here, day five on Contra, genuinely curious: how long does $10k take here? $40k? Faster? Slower? Let's find out together.

Hi everyone! I recently joined Contra and I’m currently building my profile and portfolio here. 😊
I have completed more than 500 projects as a video editor and motion designer, but I’m still learning how Contra’s discovery system works.
I would really appreciate any advice on improving my Discovery Score and increasing profile visibility. Are there specific things that made a noticeable difference for you, such as uploading more projects, collecting recommendations, staying active in the community, or optimizing your profile?
I’d also love to hear how you found your first clients on Contra and what helped you receive more inquiries.

- Sticking to Pro rewards loyalty over time, it think 2 or 3 extra points per month iirc
- Write some of your projects on your profile as case studies, rather than just...
