My friend Elizabeth runs Lizzy Empire, a hair & beauty studio in Durumi, Abuja, one chair, one artist, appointments ranging from a 45-minute wash to an 8-hour bridal callout across town.
Her bottleneck was never the work. It was the logistics: every booking lived in WhatsApp DM, or a phone call and sometimes she forgets which client is which, and a callout appointment didn't block anything that stopped a walk-in client from showing up at her salon the same afternoon.
For the lovable challenge, I built her a simple PWA. This solution lets a client pick a service, choose salon or callout, and only ever see real open time, a 6-hour braid appointment blocks the whole afternoon automatically, whether she's in the shop or at a client's door. A deposit locks the slot in.
The part I'm most proud of: Elizabeth can add, price, retire her own services from her own dashboard and manage her schedule effectively.

I also explored how automation could help businesses respond to cancellations and make better use of available time.
My goal wasn't just to make something that looks good. It was to build a product around a real business problem something practical, thoughtfully designed, and useful beyond the first click.
