Strange Rules
Strange Rules is a cute fantasy mystery series set in a beautiful enchanted world where life appears peaceful and ordinary, but everyone quietly lives by strange rules that they never question.
The world is filled with charming forests, small villages, magical creatures, cozy homes, and peaceful everyday routines. The atmosphere is warm and beautiful, but there is always a subtle feeling that something is not quite right. The strange rules are simply part of life. People follow them because they know that breaking them can lead to things they don't understand.
Mori's Story
Mori is a tiny young forest deer who lives alone in a beautiful wooden cabin deep inside the enchanted forest. He is gentle, curious, and happily lives a simple routine of cooking breakfast, caring for his garden, reading beside the fireplace, and keeping his home tidy.
Mori was raised by his teacher and guardian, Nick, who taught him everything he knows. Before Nick mysteriously left the cabin one day, he gave Mori one important promise:
“I will be back. And always follow the rules.”
Mori has waited patiently ever since.
He doesn't know where Nick went, why Nick had to leave, or why the rules are so important. But Mori trusts him, so he continues living peacefully and following the rules every day.
Until one night, exactly at midnight, someone knocks on his front door.
The world of Strange Rules isn't dark all the time. It can be warm, funny, adorable, and comforting. Forest creatures cook meals, tend gardens, go to work, visit neighbors, and live ordinary lives.
But everyone seems to know certain rules.
Some rules may sound harmless:
Never whistle after sunset.
Never answer when someone calls your name from the forest.
Never open your door after midnight.
Nobody explains where these rules came from.
Nobody wants to find out what happens when they are broken.
And sometimes, the strangest things happen when someone gets too curious.
Each episode can follow a different character, place, or strange rule while slowly revealing that all of these peaceful lives may be connected to something much bigger.

In a forest where every living thing glows, the only girl born without a light survives by stealing it.
THE WORLD
Vesperwood is an ancient forest in endless night, where the moss, the mushrooms, even the rain glow. Here, your light is your life, and it holds your memories. Anything without a light is called a Hollow, and Hollows are taken to the White Tree. None come back.
THE CHARACTER
Moth is a sharp-tongued, charming thief and the only unlit creature in Vesperwood. She fakes a glow with mushroom dust smeared across her cheeks, she's terrified of rain, and she remembers nothing of her life before. Her only family is Wick, a palm-sized creature with twelve glowing lights down his spine. He can't speak, and he's a terrible liar: his lights flicker every time he tries.
THE PILOT: "Borrowed Light"
Moth and Wick are playing hide-and-seek in a glowing grove when the lights around them start going dark. Vigil the Lamplighter, who hunts the unlit, has come deeper into the forest than ever before, and he knows Moth's name. The rain washes off her fake glow, and she runs. Then something impossible happens: the forest fights for her. Mushrooms, roots and fireflies turn against Vigil, and Wick risks everything to save her. At the edge of the Mirror Pond, Vigil stops and leaves her with a line she can't unhear: "Ask him where it went." When Moth turns to Wick, his lights flicker. And one of them has gone out.
WHERE THE SERIES GOES
Long ago, Moth gave her entire light to save a dying newborn Wick, and it cost her every memory she had. She doesn't know this. Wick does, and he's secretly giving her light back, one light at a time. Each light returns a memory to her and takes one from him, including his memories of her. She's remembering who she is while he forgets who she is.
Wick only loses a light when he chooses to protect her, so every danger becomes something the audience dreads. Ahead:
Old Ashling, a blind toad who knew Moth before.
The truth that Vigil is unlit too, surviving on the caged lights he carries, and the offer he makes Moth: a light of her own that was stolen from someone else.
The secret of what the White Tree really does with the Hollows.
Twelve lights, one season, one question: there's only enough light for one of them. Who keeps it?
WHY I BUILT IT
I wanted a world that is beautiful and dangerous at the same time, with a relationship at its center where love has a real, visible cost: one the audience can literally count down on the back of a tiny creature.

The Character:
Milo Cho, twenty seven, an overnight delivery driver with a dry, flat sense of humor and a resting expression that reads as permanently unimpressed. He grew up in a loud house where nobody fixed anything for him, so he stopped expecting help and built a habit of narrating his own life like it's beneath him. He keeps a small notebook where he logs things in shorthand, the way a birdwatcher logs sightings, which says a lot about how he processes what happens to him: distance and cataloguing instead of feeling. He is guarded, a little resentful of his own unremarkable life, and quietly starved for a sense of control or meaning he has never had. That gap between his understated exterior and what is actually happening underneath is what makes him worth watching.

Short description of your series + pilot
Milo Cho is a twenty seven year old overnight delivery driver who spends his nights alone on empty streets. Every time he falls asleep, he wakes up inside a stranger's body in the real world, always moments before that stranger is about to kill someone. The pilot opens with Milo collapsing onto his couch after a shift and drifting into what he assumes is another recurring nightmare. Instead, the audience is dropped into a first person point of view behind the wheel of a car as its driver deliberately strikes a pedestrian crossing the street. Milo wakes up shaken, dismisses it, and heads to work. On the way, he finds the street blocked off by police and an ambulance, the wreck in front of him matching exactly what he saw in his sleep. The episode ends on his growing horror as he realizes the dream was real, and that he has no idea whether he was the driver or simply a witness through someone else's eyes.
Where you would take the series next
Milo's relationship to his power moves in stages across the series. He starts in denial, treating the nightly visions as nightmares. That denial breaks and gives way to a darker stage where the control feels like the only real power in his otherwise empty life, and he begins to enjoy it more than he admits to himself. The series builds toward a stage three turning point where Milo is pulled into a body that is about to kill someone from his own life, forcing him to confront what he has let himself become comfortable with. Future episodes would also explore who or what chooses the bodies he wakes up in and why it is always someone one step from taking a life, a mystery the pilot deliberately leaves open.
Blood and Magic - Episode 01
Blood and Magic is a dark fantasy series about Aurelia, a young woman searching for answers about her past in a kingdom where magic is feared, controlled and exploited.
After losing her family to a mysterious soulless army, Aurelia has spent years trying to understand what happened and whether the clues left behind are connected to the kingdom’s hidden magic.
In the pilot, Aurelia secretly leaves the city and meets her companions, Jack and Theo, to continue their investigation. Using a mysterious magical stone, they enter a hidden, buried library-temple where they hope to finally connect the fragments of a mystery they have been chasing for years.
But the deeper Aurelia searches, the more she begins to question whether the answers she has been looking for are actually about magic at all.
Where I would take the series next
Beyond the pilot, Aurelia’s search would expand from a personal mystery into a much larger conflict surrounding the kingdom’s relationship with magic.
The buried library-temple would become a key location for the trio as they uncover fragments of forgotten history, forbidden magic, and the truth behind the soulless army. At the same time, Aurelia would begin to realize that her mother may have left her a clue for a reason she never understood.
Jack’s hidden magical abilities and Theo’s position within the royal family would create their own complications, forcing the three friends to decide how much they are willing to risk for the truth.
As the story continues, Aurelia would have to confront the possibility that her family’s disappearance, the kingdom’s exploitation of magic, and her mother’s final clue are all connected and that finding the truth could put all three of them in danger.
A little note from me
Aurelia is a character I have imagined and carried with me since I was young. Blood and Magic is, in many ways, a story I have been growing alongside for years, so getting the chance to finally bring Aurelia and her world to life has been especially meaningful to me.
Thank you for creating this challenge and for giving creators the opportunity to build something from scratch in Cantina. I had so much fun bringing a character I have known for so long into a new medium, and I learned a lot throughout the process.
