I designed and modeled a semi-automated, precision Advanced Gem Pre-Forming Machine aimed at optimizing gemstone calibration, reducing material wastage, and improving dimensional accuracy.
Key Engineering & Design Contributions:
3D CAD Modeling & Assembly: Created a complete, detailed 3D assembly in SolidWorks, incorporating a custom headbox, precision centering mechanisms, radius change systems, and a transparent safety guard.
Power Transmission Design: Engineered and selected components for the mechanical drive systems, including gear motors, timing belts, jaw couplings, and lead screws for precise linear motion.
Mechanical & Structural Analysis: Conducted Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate stress, displacement, and structural integrity on critical components like the drive shafts, machine headbox, and safety guards.
System Integration: Integrated technical specifications for variable frequency drives (VFD), dial gauges for micro-adjustments, and a customized water circulation and filtration system.
This project demonstrates my ability to take a complex mechanical problem from conceptual design through detailed engineering calculations, component selection, and final 3D CAD realization.
