A resume is a list of things you say about yourself. A LinkedIn profile is a list of things you say about yourself, plus endorsements from people who've never seen you write a line of code. I've been building the opposite this week. On Builders' Echo, your profile isn't claims — it's a Skills Passport, and every skill on it has to be earned. The core idea: a skill isn't a word you type, it's a level you reach. Claimed — you said it. Lowest signal, and it looks like it. Demonstrated — you used it in a real contest submission. Verified — your shipped work in that skill was reviewed and held up. Proven — you did it repeatedly, at a level that ranks. Every skill traces back to evidence. Click it and you see the actual submission it came from — not a self-rating, not a friend's endorsement. And the credentials behind the top levels are cryptographically signed by the platform, so a "Verified" badge can't be copy-pasted or faked. It either checks out or it doesn't. I even canonicalize the skill names, so "React", "React.js" and "ReactJS" collapse into one honest entry instead of three padding your list. The reason I care: the best builders I know are terrible at selling themselves and great at shipping. The worst are the opposite. Every resume-based system rewards the second group. A passport you have to earn, skill by skill, rewards the first. Your work should introduce you. I'm building the profile that lets it.
