Before you celebrate, thereβs one important step you CAN'T skip:
Telling Google your website exists π
A live website does not necessarily = an indexed website. If Google hasnβt indexed your website, it won't appear when potential clients search for you.
Hereβs what to do:
1οΈβ£ Go to Google Search Console and create a free account.
2οΈβ£ Add your website as a property and verify that you own it.
3οΈβ£ Find your websiteβs sitemap (ChatGPT can help you find this quickly - just ask!)
4οΈβ£ Inside Search Console, click Sitemaps, enter your sitemap URL, and click Submit.
5οΈβ£ Use the URL Inspection tool to check your homepage and other important pages. If a page isnβt indexed, click Request Indexing.
6οΈβ£ Check back under Page Indexing to make sure Google can access your pages and there arenβt any errors blocking them.
Will this automatically make your website rank at the top of Google? Nope. But it IS a necessary first step to get your website showing up at all so they have the opportunity to rank in search results.
(Google may take a few days to a few weeks to crawl and index a new website, so donβt panic if it doesnβt happen immediately!!)
