"Can Webflow replace full-stack development?" I hear this a lot.
Honestly, the gap is smaller than it used to be. But it's not gone.
A few years ago, Webflow meant landing pages and marketing sites. Anything with real logic went straight to a dev team. That's changed a lot. The CMS handles more than before, code embeds let you add custom JS and CSS, and AI coding tools make it easier to write that extra logic, even if you're not a full-stack dev yourself.
So where's the line now?
Things like user authentication, custom databases beyond what the CMS supports, payment processing outside the built-in integrations, heavy backend data processing, or anything needing your own server or API. That's not something you solve with a code embed. That's real infrastructure, and it needs someone who can build and maintain it properly.
Code embeds extend what a page can do. They don't turn Webflow into a backend.
And AI writing code faster doesn't remove the need for someone who knows what to build, why, and how to fix it when it breaks in production.
So no, I don't think Webflow replaces full-stack development. What's actually happening is the line moved. A lot of things that used to need a dev team don't anymore, and that's a real win for founders and small teams who don't need to hire out full engineering for a marketing site or a simple internal tool.
The best projects I've seen lately aren't Webflow versus code. They're Webflow handling the front end and content, with a full-stack developer brought in for the parts that genuinely need one.

This is a useful framing—the line isn’t simply “can Webflow do it?” but where product requirements cross into state, data, and trust boundaries. I like the distinction between extending a page with embeds and actually owning the backend; that nuance is often missing in Webflow conversations.
