A workflow that works in a demo is not necessarily a workflow that works in production.
One of the biggest mistakes I see in automation projects is focusing on the "happy path":
→ Data comes in → Workflow runs → API responds → Task completes
But real systems have:
→ API timeouts → Unexpected data → Duplicate requests → Rate limits → Expired credentials → Partial failures → Services that go offline
That's why reliable automation is less about connecting a few tools and more about engineering what happens when things don't go according to plan.
Retries, validation, logging, monitoring, recovery and failure handling aren't optional extras for production automation. They're part of the system.
What's one automation failure you've encountered that looked simple until it reached production?
