I took part in contra X rive's #characterchallenge and the character I built is ... me.
I had never worked with Rive before and thought it would be a great opportunity to learn it and make something along the way. Rather than making a character I might never use again, I thought to make myself as the character and use the file in my portfolio.

About my character: I am a Full-stack developer who has been recently into UI/UX and web design. And I am loving working on and creating animations.
The integration of the rive file in my portfolio is used to create a face-to-face chat like interface, where different animations occur based on the questions asked.
There are actually 60 different variations of animations that can be done for this file.
This was my second file I made in rive (first one was a simple animation just to know the workflow). How does it look?

I couldn't just stand aside and not join in on the fun of this character challenge. I had a blast animating these characters and hope you'll enjoy watching it.
Looks great! Curious about the choice to go with mesh. I tend to avoid it, had some bad experiences with crashes and performance, so I usually stick to vectors 😂
This is the full production process behind Luvu 👋 sketches, color concepts, final look, 100+ unique animations, start to finish.
And this is Luvu himself: companion and unofficial gym buddy to over 1 million people who probably didn't expect to bond with a cartoon character while doing lunges 😂
He doesn't do the "wave once and disappear" mascot thing, he sticks around. No transitions, no cutting away between tabs, he's just there the whole workout, judging your form (and he can really dish it out when it's off). Live voice with lip sync, every animation blending smoothly into the next through a full Rive state machine.
He talks. He reacts. He has moods. Built with an ex-Duolingo team who basically dared me to make people addicted to opening a fitness app, which, fair warning, is a strange thing to be proud of 🙌
Shipped v1 in 6 weeks. Somehow ended up past 1M users. Still not over it.

This is my #RiveChallenge presentation on Contra
I created 20+ animations for Boop, a health and fitness app that turns walking into a fun, motivating competition.
The project includes an interactive onboarding system built with state machines, transitions, and view models, where changing values dynamically drives users between states. It also includes a responsive walk cycle and interactive notification activation designed to make the experience feel engaging and rewarding. You can explore even more animations throughout the app.
