I’m drawn to stories that make us look closer: at people, relationships, systems, and the things we may struggle to understand.
I’m Laura E. Hunt, a writer, licensed mental health counselor, and researcher. My background includes clinical counseling, correctional settings, and academic research. My writing interests reach across nonfiction and fiction.
I write about psychology, relationships, criminal justice, reentry, and true crime. I also write personal essays and develop original fiction, where I explore character, motivation, and the worlds people inhabit.
I’m available for freelance projects including:
• Articles and blog posts
• Personal essays and narrative nonfiction
• Criminal justice and true crime content
• Creative writing and fiction
• Educational resources and worksheets
• Editing for clarity, structure, and voice
Across these subjects, I care about thoughtful research, compelling storytelling, and writing that respects the complexity of people’s lives.
If you’re looking for a writer who can bring curiosity, depth, and a professional perspective to your project, message me here. I’d love to hear what you have in mind!

You want to be left alone, but you also want witnesses.
A study of provocation, vanity, and the strange little wars people start when silence stops paying attention. Two men spend a morning talking to walls, until they find each other. Nobody declares a war. Nobody admits what they're fighting for.
Part observation, part absurdity, part autopsy of the human need to be seen.
An independent essay for TABLE FOR NOBODY, about the distance between wanting peace and wanting the last word.
