I've been asking myself this question a lot lately...
Why is it so hard to get clients on Contra? 🤔
I've spent time improving my profile, building projects, sharing my work and trying to stay active, but landing that first opportunity has been much harder than I expected.
Sometimes it feels like you're doing everything right, yet your inbox stays quiet.
So I wanted to ask the community:
What actually made the difference for you?
Was it networking? Posting consistently? Optimizing your profile? Reaching out to people? Or was it simply patience?
I'd genuinely love to hear what worked for you because I'm sure I'm not the only one trying to figure this out.
If you've been through this stage, I'd really appreciate your advice. 🙌

Took some focused effort to get every section dialed in: portfolio projects with real case studies, services with clear deliverables and pricing, reviews from actual clients, and a bio that says what I do without the fluff.
If you're sitting at 70-80 and wondering what moves the needle, the biggest jumps for me came from:
Adding detailed project write-ups (not just screenshots)
Listing tools and roles accurately on each project
Getting client reviews after completed work
Setting up productized services with real pricing
Not a vanity metric. Clients filter by profile strength, and a complete profile just looks more trustworthy when someone's deciding who to message.

Honestly, I think we both moved on a while ago.
In the meantime, I brought some clients over to Contra, earned the referral bonuses, and now I get to focus on a platform that doesn't take 20% of every project.
Sometimes getting kicked out is just the universe helping you commit.
Even mine was permanently suspended, then I came across contra and have started my journey here.
