Luna & Co. — From “Can I Book?” to “You’re Booked.”
An intelligent appointment experience for a premium Lagos hair studio
Luna & Co. is a fictional premium hair studio in Victoria Island, Lagos, built around a simple business problem:
A salon owner shouldn't have to spend their day answering repetitive booking questions, checking availability, confirming services, collecting deposits, and following up with clients.
I designed and built a complete appointment experience that turns a customer's initial interest into a confirmed booking with minimal manual effort from the owner.
The goal wasn't simply to create a beautiful salon website.
The goal was to rebuild the journey from customer inquiry → understanding → booking → confirmation.
THE PROBLEM
Luna & Co. is imagined as a busy boutique salon with a small team and a premium, appointment-based model.
The studio has a few realistic operational challenges:
The owner is often working with clients while also managing inquiries.
Customers ask questions through messages before knowing exactly which service they need.
Some requests don't directly correspond to services on the menu.
Deposits need to be confirmed before appointments are secured.
Customers need reminders and confirmation.
Manual booking conversations take time away from running the studio.
A customer who doesn't get an immediate answer can easily disappear before booking.
A traditional website might solve the front-end presentation, but it doesn't necessarily solve the operational problem.
So I focused on the entire booking journey.
THE SOLUTION
I built Luna & Co. as a self-service appointment experience where a customer can go from:
“I'm interested”
to:
“You're booked.”
without needing the owner to manually guide them through every step.
The experience combines:
AI-assisted service discovery + guided booking + appointment confirmation.
Instead of treating AI as a generic chatbot, I gave it one specific job:
Understand what the customer wants and guide them toward a legitimate Luna & Co. service.
The AI is constrained by the actual service catalog rather than being allowed to invent treatments.
WHAT I BUILT
1. Premium salon website
I created a complete editorial-style website for Luna & Co. with a luxury salon aesthetic.
The design uses:
Warm ivory tones
Deep espresso typography
Champagne/gold accents
Elegant serif typography
Editorial layouts
Large imagery
Minimal navigation
Generous whitespace
The visual direction was intentional: the experience needed to feel like a premium private salon rather than a generic booking platform.
2. AI-powered “Find the Ritual” consultation
One of the biggest problems I wanted to solve was the customer who knows what they want, but doesn't necessarily know which service to book.
The customer can simply describe their request in natural language.
For example:
“I want to make a Brazilian braid.”
Instead of blindly matching that request to an unrelated service, the system checks the real Luna & Co. service catalog.
The available services are:
Medium Knotless Braids — ₦45,000
Wig Installation — ₦35,000
Natural Hair Styling — ₦25,000
Hair Consultation — ₦10,000
If the request is an exact match, the corresponding service is recommended.
If the request isn't actually offered, the system doesn't fabricate a match.
For example, Brazilian braids aren't in the service catalog, so the system recommends:
Hair Consultation — ₦10,000
with an explanation that the customer can discuss their desired style with the salon before choosing the appropriate service.
This makes the AI useful without allowing it to make unreliable promises.
3. Editorial AI recommendation popup
Rather than displaying a generic AI response underneath the customer's question, I designed the recommendation as a large editorial consultation popup.
The customer sees:
YOUR PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION
Your ritual, considered.
Then:
YOU ASKED
followed by their original request.
And finally:
YOUR RECOMMENDATION
with the appropriate Luna & Co. service, duration, price and explanation.
The customer can then immediately select:
BOOK NOW →
or:
BOOK A CONSULTATION →
This keeps the AI experience connected to the actual business objective:
getting the customer booked.
4. Guided booking flow
Once a service is recommended, the customer doesn't have to start over.
The recommended service is automatically carried into the booking flow.
The experience becomes:
Service
↓
Artist
↓
Date & Time
↓
Customer Details
↓
Confirm & Deposit
↓
Payment
↓
You're Booked
This removes unnecessary decision-making and repetition.
A customer who arrived through the AI consultation doesn't need to select their service again.
5. Artist selection
I also introduced the salon's artists directly into the booking journey.
Instead of simply showing names and text, the artist section uses small visual portraits so customers can quickly understand who they're booking with.
This makes the experience feel more like choosing a real stylist at a boutique studio rather than filling out a generic appointment form.
6. Availability and appointment selection
The customer can select their preferred appointment date and time as part of the guided booking process.
The purpose is to move the customer away from:
“Are you available Tuesday?”
and toward:
“Tuesday at 10:00 AM is available.”
That removes one of the most common sources of appointment-related back-and-forth.
7. Deposit confirmation
Before the appointment is secured, the customer receives a clear summary of their reservation.
For example:
RITUAL
Natural Hair Styling
DATE
Tuesday, 29 September 2026
TIME
10:00
DEPOSIT
₦7,500
The customer can review everything before continuing.
This gives the business a clear confirmation point before the appointment is considered secured.
8. Demo payment experience
I also built a dedicated payment step into the booking flow.
The payment screen visually behaves like a real checkout experience, allowing the customer to enter:
Card number
Cardholder name
Expiry date
CVV
However, because this is a challenge demonstration rather than a real payment integration, it does not connect to Stripe, Paystack, Flutterwave or another payment provider.
The fields are intentionally optional and the demo can proceed without entering card details.
When the customer clicks:
PAY ₦7,500 & CONFIRM
the interface displays a short:
Securing your appointment…
processing state before continuing to the confirmation screen.
This demonstrates the complete customer journey without requesting or storing real payment information.
9. Final “You're Booked” confirmation
After completing the flow, the customer reaches a clear confirmation screen:
You're booked.
with their appointment details:
RITUAL
Natural Hair Styling
DATE
Tuesday, 29 September 2026
TIME
10:00
LOCATION
Lagos, Nigeria
DEPOSIT PAID
₦7,500
The customer can then:
ADD TO CALENDAR
or
DONE
The journey ends with certainty rather than leaving the customer wondering whether their appointment was actually confirmed.
THE BEFORE
Without a system like this, a typical interaction could look like:
Customer:
“Hi, can I book for Tuesday?”
Owner:
“Sure. What service?”
Customer:
“I want something like Brazilian braids.”
Owner:
“We don't offer that exactly. Can you send a picture?”
Customer:
sends image
Owner:
“We might be able to do something similar. Let me check.”
Owner:
“Tuesday 10am is available.”
Customer:
“Okay, how much?”
Owner:
“₦10,000 deposit.”
Customer:
“Okay.”
Owner:
“Send payment here…”
And the conversation continues.
For a busy solo owner or small salon team, these conversations quickly become operational overhead.
THE AFTER
With Luna & Co.:
Customer describes what they want
↓
AI understands the request
↓
Request is compared against the real service catalog
↓
Appropriate service or consultation is recommended
↓
Customer clicks BOOK NOW
↓
Service is already selected
↓
Customer chooses artist
↓
Customer chooses date & time
↓
Customer reviews appointment
↓
Customer completes demo payment
↓
YOU'RE BOOKED.
The owner doesn't need to manually guide the customer through each stage.
THE BUSINESS IMPACT
The core improvement isn't simply aesthetic.
It's reducing the number of manual decisions and interactions required from the business owner.
The system helps reduce:
Repetitive service questions
Unclear service requests
Manual service recommendations
Booking back-and-forth
Re-entering customer selections
Appointment confirmation work
Payment confirmation friction
Uncertainty around whether a booking was completed
The owner can spend more time doing what actually generates revenue:
serving clients instead of managing appointment conversations.
WHY I BUILT IT THIS WAY
I didn't want the AI to be another decorative feature.
A common mistake with AI-powered websites is using AI simply because it looks impressive.
For Luna & Co., the AI has a very specific operational role:
Turn an unstructured customer request into a legitimate next step toward a booking.
That means the system is deliberately designed to say:
“We don't currently offer that. Let's start with a consultation.”
instead of inventing an answer just to appear intelligent.
That principle makes the experience more trustworthy and more useful to an actual small business.
THE CORE IDEA
The entire project can be summarized in one transformation:
→ AI understands the request
→ legitimate service recommendation
→ BOOK NOW
→ choose time
→ confirm
→ payment
→ YOU'RE BOOKED
PROJECT OUTCOME
Luna & Co. demonstrates how a small appointment-based business can combine premium web design, AI-assisted service discovery, and a structured booking workflow into one customer journey.
The result isn't just a salon website.
It's a digital front door and booking assistant designed to reduce friction for both sides:
For the customer:
Less searching, less messaging, less uncertainty.
For the owner:
Less repetitive communication, less manual coordination, and fewer steps between inquiry and confirmed appointment.
The ultimate goal is simple:
Turn “Can I book?” into “You're booked.”
All built in Lovable
Quick question regarding the challenge setup and partner verification:
Promo Code Delivery: I joined the challenge earlier today, but I haven't received the confirmation email containing the unique Lovable Pro discount code yet (checked Spam/Promotions as well). Is there an automated delay, or can this be verified on my account?
Partner Program Approval Timeline: The Lovable Partner Program application mentions a review period of up to ~5 business days. Can we proceed with building and submitting the project while the partner application is pending, with certification confirmed prior to final judging? Looking forward to diving into the build. Thanks for the clarification!
Hey all - Dylan from the Contra team here. @Štefan Bohumel it looks like on our end the email was sent and was opened. I'll also be looking into the confirmation emails for the remaining folks here. It may take up to 24 hours to receive your confirmation email
