Brief Project Description
Artora is a modern, gallery-inspired online art store designed for a client who wanted to showcase and sell her original artwork through a refined digital experience. The objective was to create a minimalist ecommerce website where the artwork remains the focal point while delivering an elegant, editorial aesthetic.
The design combines generous white space, custom typography, thoughtful layouts, and subtle interactions to create an immersive browsing experience. Every section was carefully crafted to reflect the client's vision and provide a premium shopping experience for collectors and art enthusiasts.
This website serves as the design prototype for client approval. Once approved, I will recreate it as a fully functional ecommerce website in the client's Squarespace account.
How I Used Squarespace & Finish Layer
This project was built using Squarespace Fluid Engine and enhanced with Finish Layer to create a polished, interactive experience.
Squarespace Native Design Tools
Designed the entire website with Squarespace Fluid Engine.
Created responsive layouts optimized for desktop and mobile.
Built product, gallery, and content pages using native Squarespace blocks.
Uploaded custom fonts to establish a distinctive visual identity.
Used Squarespace's built-in typography, spacing, color, and layout controls throughout the site.
Finish Layer
Finish Layer was used selectively to enhance the user experience while preserving the clean, minimalist aesthetic.
Block Animations add subtle motion as visitors scroll through the website.
Block Transforms create layered, editorial-style compositions that add visual depth.
Stacks were used extensively on the Gallery page to create dynamic artwork layouts with precise alignment and spacing.
The combination of Squarespace's native design capabilities and Finish Layer allowed me to transform the client's vision into a premium online art store that feels modern, immersive, and engaging.

The goal was to build a website using Squarespace's new Finish Layer tools—and, coincidentally, I was already looking for a no-code platform to build my portfolio when I discovered Squarespace.
Building this website was an amazing experience, and it's officially becoming my new portfolio website!

In the videos below, I show the homepage, the portfolio overview, and one of my branding case study pages, explaining the reasoning behind each animation decision in the website's construction.

To make the experience more engaging, I used "Block Animations" to gradually reveal content as visitors scroll, helping guide their attention instead of overwhelming them with information all at once.
I also used "Pin Blocks" on the project pages to keep the project description visible while the images scroll beside it, making the storytelling much easier to follow.
One of my favorite effects is the "Zoom" scroll animation, which adds depth and movement to key sections without distracting from the content. Throughout the site, I balanced subtle entrance animations with persistent scroll effects to create a polished browsing experience while keeping the interface clean and intuitive.
The result is a six-page portfolio with four featured projects, designed to showcase my work while creating a smooth, engaging user experience from the first scroll to the final contact section.

So clean... amazing work
Hi, I'm Organ, and this is Simiyu Motors AI. I wanted to create a modern online platform that makes buying and selling vehicles easier. Using Squarespace, I turned this idea into a professional website with a clean design, organized vehicle listings, and an easy way for customers to connect with sellers. My goal was to create a trustworthy, user-friendly experience that could serve people across Kenya. This project demonstrates how a simple idea can become a polished digital experience.
This project was built entirely in Squarespace with the goal of creating a premium website that feels clean, immersive, and memorable from the very first scroll.
I focused on strong typography, carefully curated imagery, thoughtful spacing, and subtle interactions to create an experience that feels polished while remaining intuitive to navigate.
Finish Layer helped bring the design to life through Block Animations for smooth reveals, Block Transforms to add depth and balance to the layouts, Stacks for responsive structure across screen sizes, and custom font uploads to give the brand a more distinctive identity.
Every design choice was made to enhance the experience rather than distract from it.
I've included screenshots of the homepage and key design decisions, along with a walkthrough showing the finished website, my design process, and the Squarespace editor where the site was built.
