"Looking for a Social Media Manager." That was how the job post started. But by the time I finished reading it, I realized they were actually looking for: A Social Media Manager. A Content Writer. A Graphic Designer. A Video Editor A Content Creator A Brand Strategist. A Community Manager. If possible, just do everything and handle every and any other task that might "come up along the way." The salary? $50. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The remote workspace has made many people believe that because someone works online, they can comfortably wear five different hats and deliver expert-level results in all of them. But that's a very flawed perception of how excellence works. Social Media Management is a profession. Content Writing is a profession. Graphic Design is a profession. Community Management is a profession. Each of these roles requires time, skill, focus, and continuous learning. Can one person have knowledge across multiple areas? Absolutely. (Many of us learned additional skills to better support businesses and become more valuable). But there's a difference between being versatile and being overloaded. The truth is, when one person is expected to do the work of five people, something eventually suffers: * Quality. * Creativity. * Engagement. Or the person's mental health. This is slowly becoming a norm and a work culture and I’m willing to bet there’s a freelancer out there that's managing five different job descriptions under a single title. Their creativity is gradually diminishing not because they lack ability, but because they are stretched too thin. It is not a question of talent. Talent without focus, however well-intentioned, rarely produces meaningful results. Strong brands are not built by individuals who try to do it all. They are built by people who are given the space to excel at one thing and do it extraordinarily well. Give your team the room to breathe. And If you are a brand that understands this principle and are looking for someone who specializes in one core area, I would be happy to connect. My dm is open.
