Business name: Needle & Vow
The problem I solved: A bride's late-night "can you fit me in?" DM becomes a confirmed booking, with every visit scheduled backward from her wedding date.

Planning a wedding is stressful enough without the dress turning into a deadline problem.
Picture a bride with a June wedding. Her dress is still in transit, her fitting can't be booked yet, and her alterations only work if every visit lands in the right order. Meanwhile her seamstress is answering DMs at midnight and doing date math in her head.
So I built Needle & Vow, a bridal alterations studio run by Elena, where the wedding date does the scheduling.

A bride messages at 11:48 PM. Elena pastes it into her inbox, and the app picks out the wedding date, the service and whether the dress has arrived. It works out the earliest safe plan and drafts a warm reply with a booking link. The bride taps once, and her fitting and pickup are booked together.
If her dress hasn't arrived, she still gets a consultation now. Her fittings are added the moment she confirms it's here.
Behind the scenes:
Reminders go out automatically.
If a bride can't make it, her visit reschedules itself and the freed slot is offered to another bride.
If three people grab the same slot at once, one wins and the others are told right away.
Elena's dashboard shows only what needs her attention, so her week goes from evenings of admin to about 10 minutes.

So when my favorite AI builder teams up with Contra for a competition, there’s no “should I enter?” Of course I’m in.
The challenge: take a small business from “can I book?” to “you’re confirmed” without the owner spending half their day chasing messages.
This one hits close to home. I’ve already built a booking flow for my own brand, pmcosta.dev, and reused it across multiple side projects. Because booking an appointment shouldn’t require twelve messages and a calendar negotiation.
Now I get to take that experience and push it further. Not just a nice-looking widget, but something that actually takes work off a business owner’s plate.

What we built SnapBook — a booking app for Luma & Lens Photography, a solo editorial wedding photographer in Lagos, Nigeria. It has two sides: a public booking flow where couples check a date, build their quote, and hold a date themselves in under two minutes, and an owner workspace where Tobi (the photographer) sees every inquiry, active date holds with live countdowns, confirmed weddings, and her availability calendar — working from her phone between shoots.
Why we built it Luma & Lens has a very believable problem. She's shooting 10-hour weddings Friday through Sunday and literally cannot reply to messages while working. Meanwhile, every inquiry looks the same: "Hi, are you available June 14th? How much do you charge?" Before SnapBook, that meant a 3–5 message back-and-forth just to check one date, then sending the pricing brochure again, then chasing the couple to actually commit — and some of them went cold or double-booked her weekend mentally before she ever confirmed.
What changed (the before/after)
Before: Couple messages Tobi → she replies hours later between shoots → quotes prices → waits → follows up → books (or loses them). Owner effort: days of fragmented WhatsApp admin.
After: Couple opens the link → sees live availability → picks their ceremony type, coverage, and guest band → gets an instant, upfront price in Naira → holds their date with a 24-hour reservation — no message to Tobi required. She opens the dashboard, sees the inquiry with full wedding details, and confirms. Owner effort: minutes.
