I produced a feature story on the Peabody Award-winning radio program dedicated to music from Africa and the African diaspora, also known as Afropop Worldwide. The story required lots of heart and countless hours of production, research, and writing. But the final product was well worth the trouble! The feature episode is titled “How the Sound of Saudade Traveled to Ethiopia.”
In this project, I had the opportunity to explore the deep connections between two countries I've lived in, Ethiopia and Brazil, bridging the gap through the universal language of music. I delved into the rich complex emotions of saudade, human connections, the complex political history of both nations, and the diverse musical genres that tie them together.
