Most financial firms think of content as marketing.
The best ones think of it as business development.

Marketing content: "Here's our Q3 market update."
Business development content: "Here's what we actually think about whats happening in Q3, and what it means for the clients we work with."

The firms I respect most in this space aren't publishing content to check a box. They're publishing because they genuinely have something to say, a story to tell, and they've realized that saying it publicly is one of the most efficient ways to find clients who already agree with how they think.
