I wanted to know what a game based on
Apple TV’s Severance would actually feel like.
A game you could imagine Lumon making its employees play.
So I built Macrodata Meltdown, a FPS browser game inspired by the show’s Macrodata Refinement department and its task of sorting numbers on a screen based on intuition and emotional response.
While being an avid gamer, I’d never built a game before, so I used this as an opportunity to learn, leaning heavily on
Anthropic's Claude and
OpenAI's ChatGPT along the way.
The biggest lesson wasn’t really about code, but a meditation on game design.
How small visual changes can completely alter perception
The value of creative direction
How reactive UI and gameplay are key to good game feel
Some of the features:
→ Finish with a Lumon-style performance review
→ Full controller support
→ Log your highest score on the Lumon leaderboard

A fan project made with a lot of affection for Severance while we wait for the next season.
If you try it, I’d genuinely love to hear your thoughts on it.
Please enjoy each perk equally. 🧇
