AI is changing UI/UX design — but not just by generating screens.
The next big shift is Agentic UX: designing experiences where AI can understand a user’s goal, take actions, and still keep the user in control.
Instead of making users go through:
Search → Filter → Compare → Select → Confirm
They may simply say:
“Find the best option for me and complete the task.”
For designers, this creates new UX questions:
• When should AI act automatically?
• When should it ask for approval?
• How do we show what the AI is doing?
• How can users undo an AI action?
• How do we build trust when AI makes decisions?
• What happens when the AI makes a mistake?
I think the role of a UI/UX Designer is moving from only designing screens and flows to designing intent, trust, control, feedback, and human–AI collaboration.
This is one area I’m currently exploring and learning more about.
What do you think — will Agentic UX become a core skill for Product Designers?
