I tested Opus 5.5 and had it build an arcade game in Unity using the CLI and Claude Code.
The game is called Heatwave and is a quick and fun little police chase game.
Of all the games I've made, this is actually the one I enjoy to test the most.
I'm terrible at it, but it's fun.
Wanting another run even when you are bad at it is a pretty good sign. What took more iteration in Heatwave, the driving feel or the police chase behavior?
Snake was one of the games I played the most as a kid: simple, addictive, and honestly still one of the best game loops out there. What I could never get past was the interface. So I decided to fix that, with an aesthetic I love: vaporwave.

Built with Phaser 3, TypeScript, and Vite.
It has 13 levels with a full neon vaporwave look, a combo system that shifts your loot odds the longer you survive, 5 lives, and a real ending in Normal mode. There are three modes: Normal, Runner (one hit and you're out), and Random: endless levels with no finish line, my favorite.
Can you beat all 13 levels? I still haven't. Maybe it's just too hard?
