Presentation Exercise #2

This slide comes from a real startup pitch deck.

The original slide wasn't wrong.

It was just asking the audience to process too much at once.

So I redesigned it around one idea:

Network-driven transactions grew 5× in 16 months.

Everything else became supporting evidence instead of competing for attention.

When I redesign pitch decks, I usually ask:

• What's the one sentence people should remember? • Which numbers deserve immediate attention? • What can be simplified without losing meaning?

The goal isn't to make slides prettier.

It's to make decisions easier.

after presenting more brand directions than I can count, one thing I’ve learned: I never jump straight into showing the visuals.

first I want to establish what we're actually trying to solve.

what we heard from the client. what they want to be known for. where they sit in the market. what needs to feel different.

then the big idea, and how it translates into type, colour, imagery and graphic elements.

only then the designs.

context changes how you judge the work.
