Designed and built an interactive Formula 1 live broadcast overlay for the #rivebroadcastchallenge!
Key Features & Mechanics:
š Dynamic Driver Standings Tower: Features structured hierarchy layouts and live text runs prepped for real-time race data inputs.
šØ Interactive Alert System: Built-in Safety Car banner powered by custom State Machine logic, trigger inputs, and smooth enter/exit timeline animations.
š Live Canvas Interactions: Wired with click listeners so viewers can trigger broadcast state changes dynamically on the artboard.
Built entirely in @Rive with smooth state machine transitions and layered vector UI over live track visuals.

Reimagining Blitzball as a Modern Sports Broadcast
Iām Wayne Porter, creative designer and owner of Porter Design and Motion. For the Rive Broadcast Challenge, I wanted to combine several interests into one project: motion design, sports broadcasting, interactive systems, and Final Fantasy X.
Inspired by studios such as Drive Studio and Territory Studio, along with designers Jacob LaPlante and Justin Peterson, I reimagined Blitzball as a modern broadcast experience for the fictional Spira Sports Network.
Blitzball is an intense underwater sport that combines elements of water polo and soccer. My goal was to create a broadcast package that felt energetic and futuristic, while remaining clear, readable, and functional.
The project began with the network identity and main scoreboard. From there, I developed a connected system that included:
A primary scoreboard
A compact gameplay score bug
A player statistics graphic
Three lower-third variations
A full-screen matchup takeover
Consistency was important throughout the package. Each element shares the same visual and motion language, allowing the graphics to feel like part of one complete broadcast system.
Riveās state machines, view models, and data binding allowed me to create reusable layouts, player-specific information, animated score updates, and multiple graphic variations without treating every screen as a separate animation.
This project pushed me to think beyond individual motion pieces and focus on the entire delivery as a functional product. It was a fun opportunity to explore how design, animation, and interactive logic can work together to create a believable sports broadcast experience.

We were glad to create the @Rive animation, design support, and Rive engineering behind 4 activations, live at the 2026 EuroLeague Final Four in Athens.
Built for ASB GlassFloor's LED court, running at 7168x3840, broadcast live directly on the court itself with Adidas, Motorola & Etihad on board.

I built a realātime interactive UI called āLive Pulseā for a Formula racing broadcast.
The interface reacts to live data using Rive Data, GPU Canvas, Binding, and Scripting.
Speed changes trigger a dynamic pulse animation, while position updates animate the leaderboard.
The design focuses on clarity, motion, and realātime excitement to enhance the viewerās experience.
