Half the stores I look at replatformed at some point and never checked their old URLs.
A chunk of their rankings quietly disappeared because of broken or missing redirects that nobody ever audited.
It usually happens after moving from WooCommerce to Shopify, rebuilding the site, or changing the URL structure.
The new store works perfectly, but the old URLs Google was ranking now return 404s instead of pointing to the new pages.
Over time, Google drops those pages from the index and the traffic disappears. Most store owners don't notice until months later.
The fix is pretty simple, find the old URLs, identify the broken ones, and 301 redirect each to the closest relevant page.
Before you spend time or money creating new content, make sure you're not leaking the rankings you've already earned.
