Entry #1: Tile into the world by engraving.
My test run for the competition. I wanted to scroll through, see what spoke to me and this tile piece by Charles Volkmar did. Gorgeous work that felt very earthy and grounded in part because of the medium of the piece. This piece felt like a mural to a beautiful place. Even before this reimagination, it should have been a large engraving somewhere to be seen by many. Stopped at a certain point but then decided to push it with the extra credits.
Was thinking about the value and places of ancient looking (or indeed ancient) pieces like this in a developing world. Is art just something to hold space or do we hope more people appreciate the lessons behind the art?
